As the new year begins, many of us make goals to live better, save money, or help the planet. This year, try the #NoBuyChallenge. It’s about thinking twice before buying and following the idea “You Only Need One” (YONO) instead of “You Only Live Once” (YOLO). Let’s get started!
The #NoBuyChallenge means not buying unnecessary things for a while. You can do it for a month or even all of 2025. It’s not just about saving money—it’s about being mindful, creating less waste, and focusing on what’s really important.
By moving from YOLO to YONO, we stop buying things we don’t need. Instead, we focus on what matters and keep it simple. Remember the rules of 4R : Reduce, Reuse, Recycle, Repeat!

At TRI Cycle, we always discuss how to become a more conscious consumer and share insights about the Pyramid of the Buyerarchy of Needs, inspired by Maslow’s hierarchy (even our T-shirt design is inspired by this!).That’s why we fully support this campaign. It’s a great step towards living sustainably and making choices that benefit both you and the planet.
Here’s a list of things to cut back on:
YOLO often leads to buying too much because we feel life is short. But this can cause clutter, money problems, and hurt the planet.
YONO is about being mindful and happy with what you have. You don’t need everything—just the right things. For example, One reusable bottle instead of lots of plastic ones.
Starting 2025 with the #NoBuyChallenge is a great way to spend less, waste less, and focus on what matters. By living with YONO, you’ll find happiness in owning less and living more.
